IFK vs Kalmar FF 7/5

12,473 people gathered in Ullevi on the warmest day of the year so far for an Allsvenskan "Top match". Blåvitt's supporters had high hopes; the odds were for the home team. These hopes came crashing down after only 7 minutes when Patrik Ingelsten scored the first goal for the visitors. IFK tried to keep on flying but Kalmar seemed the stronger team. After 24 minutes Viktor Elm scored another goal for the guests, knocking the wind out of both IFK and their previously boisterous fans. It was a sad crowd that booed their team down when they left the field.

Returning to the seat for the second half you could feel the atmosphere was somewhat different. IFK came back to the field with fire burning in their eyes. And it was not just the reflection of the setting sun! After six minutes Jonas Wallerstedt kicked the ball into the goal after a faithful pass from Tobias Hysén. Only three minutes later "Walle" was back at the goal, this time using his head to knock in the ball after a beautiful centre pass from Adam Johansson.

With only 10 minutes into the second half the match was tied and fully reopened. The crowd was cheering and sun was still shining. It doesn't get any better than this, you thought. But yes! Five short minutes longer Gustav Svensson made a perfect goal, one of the best we've seen this season. In only ten minutes the tide had turned and the crowd was cheering like never before.

The next thirty minutes Blåvitt had full control
over the game and the visitors were never a serious threat except for one shot at the goal from Marcus Lindberg in 75th minute. The game was over just when the sun was setting down and it was a happy crowd that left Ullevi into the warm night.

The next match IFK plays is against Trelleborgs FF, July 1st at Ullevi. You can buy tickets here.
